Supporting Bingo - Sales Tips/Procedures
Where: Boulevard Bingo
2880 Airline Blvd
488-4911
The Bingo Parlor is located in a shopping mall on Airline Blvd. Proceeding out Airline from PCRS you will cross Portsmouth Boulevard and Victory. Continue through the next stoplight and you will see the mall on your right. You will have to go about ¼ mile past the light to reach the entrance.
Attire:
Wear comfortable shoes!!!! There is a lot of walking required and you will be on your feet for most of the time.
Wear casual, comfortable clothes!
Arrival:
You should arrive at 9:45 am for the day session and 5:45 for the evening session.
Upon arrival check in with Phil or one of the staff at the bingo parlor. Make sure you sign in as a volunteer with them. This is a requirement for the licensing department and will assist me in crediting your service hours. The staff will instruct you and assign you to a “station”.
Bingo Basics:
Volunteers perform 2 primary functions.
Other tips:
I always count the cards and money twice. I suggest when you total the cost you say it out loud to the patron and then announce what the patron gives you aloud. Count their change out loud to them. This will reduce the chance of error. For example, the patron purchases four jackpot cards.
Volunteer: That will be $4.00 ma'am. $4 out of $10. That's 4 cards for $4.00 and five and ten. Thank you and good luck!
Please remember to thank the players for their patronage!
While you are walking the floor selling instant bingo or the specials, games will be ongoing. If someone in your vicinity calls “BINGO!” you should check the card and call the card number out to the game caller. The caller will verify if the card is a winner. The player will tell you which card is the winner. If the win is verified, stay in the vicinity of the winner until they receive a payout slip.
Certain special games, like the progressive games need to be settled so the payout can be determined. If you are selling specials, you will be instructed to go to the office to settle as these games begin.
WE GENERATE THE MAJORITY OF OUR PROFIT ON THE INSTANT GAMES AND THE SPECIALS. IT IS IMPORTANT TO MOVE AROUND THE FLOOR AND HAVE THESE AVAILABLE WHEN THE PATRONS WISH TO BUY THEM.
The staff at the bingo parlor is very knowledgeable and helpful. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to ask!
We appreciate you taking the time to assist us with Bingo. This is a great opportunity for our school and we thank you for your assistance.

Bingo Basics:
Volunteers perform 2 primary functions.
- Instant Bingo – Instant bingo is just what it says. Cards are sold and the purchaser can find out immediately (in most cases) if they win. Most winners take their winnings in additional cards. The larger winners are paid in cash. There are often several different “instant” bingo games at once and the winners are announced when all the tickets are sold. At the beginning of the session, instants are sold from the “Instants Counter”. After regular bingo play begins, the volunteer will walk the floor to sell to the players.
- Standard Bingo – The players can buy “packs” of cards that cover all the “regular” ($100) games. These packs vary in pricing and are sold by the regular bingo volunteers at the counter. Volunteers sell the Special game cards. These games have significantly higher payouts and thus are called “Specials.” There is one jackpot game per session, a Treasure Chest game, a Lucky 7 game and 3 to 5 other progressive games. At the beginning of the session, volunteers will be given a bucket with all the various special game cards and a change fund. Volunteers will be assigned to a station and sell from there until the games start. Once the games start, volunteers should turn in excess cash to the office and begin walking the floor to sell “specials.” The appropriate color for each of the games is listed on the program sheet you will be provided. Please do not leave cash or cards unattended at any time. If you need to use the rest room you must first turn in your bucket and/or apron to the office until you return.
